The Royale Diggle Fete 3rd July 2011

This year’s fete proved once again to be very popular.  We were also blessed with excellent weather!  A massive profit of £5607.93 was raised, so a big thank you must go to Joanne Taylor and Liz Redfearn who coordinated this event and also to the many volunteers who gave their time to help before, during and after the big day.

If anyone can help with the 2012 Fete then we will be asking for volunteers nearer the time – watch this space!

Clothesline

Request for donations of clothes to the school – collection is THIS THURSDAY 20th October from 8.30am to 10 ish – bring any unwanted clothes, bags, belts, shoes, linen – the school gets money per kilo AND it doesn’t have to be good stuff it can be stuff you are literally throwing in the bin!!!  Not even jumble quality.

Second Hand Uniform request

The PTA will be organizing a sale of second hand uniforms.  Sales will generate funds which can be put to many uses to benefit the school.

If you have children who have recently left school or if they have outgrown any uniform, could you please consider donating any items – in good, clean condition ready for sale – that are no longer needed; with names removed if possible.

If you have any items for donation, please leave them at the school office in a bag labelled ‘second hand uniform’.

Thank you for your generosity!

(Dates for the 1st sale will be advised in due course)

Diggle School Olympics

Thanks to all the children and their families as well as all the coaches and volunteers who helped to make 2011 a great year for Diggle Village Olympic Team

We had over 100 children participate in training throughout the summer and then during the games themselves.

By the end, Diggle had won 12 gold, 30 silver, 25 bronze and 60 slate medals.  All children got a commemorative medal for representing their village.

Special mentions go to Johnjo Beckwith and Lauren Redfearn who each receive a Spirit of the Games award for the sporting way in which they have participated as nominated by the coaches.

Thanks also toDiggleSchoolwho allowed the use of their school grounds for training.

The presentation night was held on Saturday 8th October at Diggle Band Club where children and their family and friends celebrated their achievements.

The Giving Machine

With Christmas fast approaching, many people buy presents from online shops such as Amazon, e-bay, Toys R Us, Next, Tesco, Sainsbury’s (even online food shopping), M&S and many more offer donations when you go via The Giving Machine.  A donation is given to the school from the specific store you shop from.

If you shop online, please take a few moments to register with The Giving Machine and help Diggle School PTA raise funds.  Its easy to register and costs you nothing extra.

So far to date, we have raised £64.84 for the PTA!
