On Sunday 4th December 2011 at Diggle’s annual Christmas Service the Christmas tree lights will be switched on.
The service will be led by the Reverend Duncan Rhodes and starts at 4pm with music from the Diggle B Band. There will be a Christingle service and Carol singing supported by the Diggle School Choir. The tree lights are scheduled to be turned on at 4:30pm.
Nigel Shaw, Chair of the Diggle Community Association said, “This is a fabulous community event which, over the past couple of years, has grown significantly. This year there will be mulled wine and mince pies.”
From a small service two years ago this event has grown in popularity and is now a major community occasion. It is popular with local groups and the wider community. Local resident Charlotte Coleman said, ”We are hoping for a big turn out this year. What could be more ‘Christmassy’, mulled wine, minced pies, music and Christmas carols.”
As it will be dark remember to take a torch or lantern.
