Autumn Reflections, Chew Valley

Sheila Dewsbury is an artist who lives and works in Saddleworth. She is currently exhibiting a wide selection of oil paintings and charcoal drawings at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph. The exhibition will run until Christmas 2011.

Sheila’s chief source of inspiration has been the Saddleworth landscape with its open vistas and changing light. Her love for the area is clearly evident in her work.  Sheila’s passion for landscape has led her to explore many of the wild parts of Britain. This has resulted in a comprehensive body of work with paintings and drawings of Anglesey, Snowdonia and the west coast of Ireland.

Sheila is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and the archivist at the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts. She has exhibited in London at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Westminster Gallery and the Lyric Theatre. Sheila currently runs a group called Painting for Pleasure at Kiln Green Church, Diggle.

The exhibition at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph is open 7pm to 9pm during performances. To find details for forthcoming events at the Millgate click here.
