Help the Heroes Colossal Cake Sale 2012

Local woman, Alison Clowes, 24 from Oldham will be taking part in this year’s Colossal Cake Sale in support of Help for Heroes.  Alison will don her apron, grab her wooden spoon and get baking to support our wounded heroes. The cake sale will be held on the 24th March, starting at 11am at Diggle Band Club.

Alison is calling on local people to help by contributing homemade cakes and biscuits, jams, chutneys and savories for the cake sale. Volunteers are also needed to help out on the stall on the day. The Colossal Cake Sale is a wonderful way to raise much-needed funds, whether you bake, bring or buy!

The Colossal Cake Sale has grown amazingly from 7 events in 2008 to 184 last year and the charity hopes to see this continue in 2012 with even more communities getting together to help British soldiers on their road to recovery.

Emma Parry, CEO & co-founder of Help for Heroes said, “H4H is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this event is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We have been able to use the £121 million raised by the British public so far, to provide practical and direct support to those wounded while serving their country. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated.”

For those who are unable to attend the event there’s a whole host of cake baking-related Help for Heroes merchandise available on their website www.shop.helpforheroes.org.
