Kiln Green Church started the Christmas season with its annual Christmas Fair on Saturday the 10th November. The event which was well attended by local residents was opened by Diggle’s Para- Olympic swimmer, Ben Proctor. Dilys Proctor, Ben’s Grandmother, said she had been associated with Kiln Green church for many years and had always supported this annual community event.

The church hall was once again transformed into a bustling market place with tombola and toy stalls, second hand books and a plethora of other activities. Local crafts people also exhibited their goods. Rainbows, Brownies and Cub Scouts were there to lend a hand as ever whilst the ladies of the coffee bar did a fantastic job serving tea and coffee and delicious homemade cakes. Ben, who Diggler’s are very proud of, delighted local children by showing off his olympic medals. Of course, the fair would not be the event it is without the attendance of good old Father Christmas, who met and chatted to children in his magical grotto! This is a great annual event and is well supported by, and run by, Diggle people…. long may it continue!

Revd. Duncan Rhodes said, “It was a fabulous event raising approximately £1700 which we will put to good use. A big thank you to all those, old and young, who gave their time and energy to make this event successful.”
