Oldham Council’s gritting team is continuing to work around the clock to keep the Borough moving during the latest cold snap.
The high level routes across the Pennines have been worst affected; especially the A635 Holmfirth Road and the A672 Ripponden Road where high winds and blizzard conditions have produced extreme conditions.
The A635 Holmfirth Road is currently shut due to drifting snow, as is the A640 Huddersfield Road.
Gritting teams will be focusing on high level and primary routes until the weather improves.
The Met Office have forecast that snow will continue through the night, turning heavy at times with very large falls in some places. Strong southeasterly winds will increase the risk of blizzards and drifting especially over high ground.
