Diggle Football Club were celebrating their second trophy in as many weeks as their Reserve Team clinched the Huddersfield Football Association Junior Cup with a 1-0 victory over Shepley Reserves.

Diggle were totally dominant throughout the game, restricting their opponents to very few chances, even when playing against a strong wind in the first half. The winning goal was scored in the 65th minute when Brian Lord’s free kick was parried by Shepley’s goalkeeper into the path of  Diggle skipper Stephen Chamberlain. He made no mistake and tucked the ball home from 7 yards.

It is the third time the Club has won the Huddersfield FA Junior Cup in the last 6 years, previously winning in 2007 & 2010, and tops off a successful season for the club with the First Team winning the Barlow Cup at Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium last month.
