On Sunday 25th November at 2pm the bells of St Chad’s will ring out across Saddleworth with a challenging quarter peal.

Jeff Brannah, the bell tower captain at St Chads, Uppermill, has arranged for a quarter peal to be rung just prior to the Hymn Book Dedication Service. Ringers will be attempting a difficult quarter peal from 2pm and will continue until the service at 3pm.

The eight ringers include two from Saddleworth, 4 from Mottram and 2 from Armitage Bridge. The ‘method’ will be Bristol Surprise Major which is a fairly advanced method. Two of the band will be attempting to ring a quarter of ‘Bristol’ for the first time.

Tracy Waller from the Saddleworth Team said, “My fingers will be crossed but I’m sure they will be successful.”
