Local Diggle resident Vicki Harrington recently organized a tea and cake party to raise money for the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA).

The event, which was held in Vicki’s garden, was attended by over a hundred people and raised £560 for the charity. The wide selection of home baked cakes and gorgeous weather attracted visitors from across the area. Mary, who owns and runs the chip shop in Delph, said, “It’s a fabulous event and I’m pleased to contribute to the valuable work of the RSPCA”

Vicki said, “It’s been hard work but is worth the effort. Visitors have been very generous. I didn’t charge for the tea and cakes, I only asked for a donation.”

Michael Harrington, Vicki’s husband, also got involved, organizing a walk around the local area to explore Diggle’s hidden delights. Valuable exercise for visitors, who like me, sampled more than one piece of cake.
