The Christmas season in Diggle was officially launched by St Chad’s All Stars who, between the 16th and 19th November 2011, staged four sell out performances of their pantomime Puss in Boots.
The pantomime tells the story of local lad Jack who, with help from his faithful puss, has to defeat the evil Lord Roger before he can win the hand of the beautiful Princess Alice. A lively funny script which has been cleverly adapted for the Diggle audience making reference to well known locations in the area.
This annual event is always well received in Diggle and is one of the highlights on the Christmas calendar. As well as attracting many local people, it is supported by many of the uniformed organisations in the area such as Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows and Beavers.
The Reverend Duncan Rhodes said that, “In terms of its contribution to the local community it is an event that actively engages a huge number of people.” He went on to say, “The Saint Chad’s All Stars is an all-inclusive group which celebrates and values the contribution of every member….They are all stars.”
The pantomime was written by Damian Trasler, David Lovesy and Steve Clark and was directed by Terry Biltcliffe.
