Diggle residents woke to a winter wonderland on Sunday morning following heavy snowfall during the night.
The wintry conditions were unexpected and although this made driving in the area difficult, most primary routes around Diggle remained open whereas secondary and tertiary roads were, in the main, impassable.
Fortunately, with the snow falling on a Sunday the roads were quiet and children and families were quick to capitalise on the conditions building snowmen and sledging.
The forecast from the Met-Office is for milder conditions this week so the snow is expected to clear quickly with day time temperatures remaining above five degrees Celsius. It is unlikely that we will be treated to a White Christmas.
