Fantastic fireworks and family fun will be the headline attractions as Oldham’s Bonfire Night experience returns with a bang.

A spectacular fireworks display will be the centrepiece of this free event, taking place at Boundary Park on Monday, November 5th, as it returns after an absence of more than a decade.

Pyrotechnics for the evening are being provided by Fantastic Fireworks, one of the longest-established firms in the industry. Their dazzling display will be choreographed to music and include fountains, low-fallout pyrotechnics, mines, multi-shot barrages and traditional favourites like roman candles. There will also be a range of family-oriented attractions on offer including a small bonfire, games and activities, plus food stalls selling traditional grub.

Two stunning shows from FlameOz, a multi-award winning fireshow that has performed across the globe, will also perform for the crowd. This high-impact display sees experienced professionals delivering a dramatic combination of dance, balance and spectacular fire manipulation.

There will also be walkabouts from the Wrong Size’s Stiltwalking LightWalkers, a duo that will mesmerise with simple yet starkly beautiful images in a multi-colour swirl of costume and light.

Councillor Amanda Chadderton, Assistant Cabinet Member, said: “This is going to be a fantastic family event and we’ve got some really top class performers lined-up to keep people entertained.”

“As part of Operation Treacle we’re continuing to work with other agencies to keep people safe throughout the Halloween and bonfire period. Bringing this civic event back is a key part of that work.

“By hosting a big public event like this we want to discourage smaller groups of people from attending unsupervised bonfires which we know can put great strain on our emergency services at this time. We believe Bonfire Night should be part of the annual calendar of public events and we’re hoping for a good turnout to support a fun, and very safe, family night out.”

Oldham Council will be releasing further details, including event timings, in the run-up to Guy Fawkes Night. Updates are also being promoted on Twitter using the #backwithabang hashtag.
